Your Contract Ideas Will Shape Our Bargaining

The Officers and Executive Board would like to sincerely thank all of our members who sent in contract proposals. Your input and ideas are very important to us. The board has received these proposals and has now met multiple times to discuss and consider each of them, and develop them into an overall strategy as we prepare to head into negotiations with National Fuel in November.
This year has been like no year we have ever experienced. Our union and the Labor movement in general, have been built on the idea of many people working together in solidarity. But for the first time, we are not together. Some of us still report to the office, while others work remotely. Many switch between the two. We are not currently having members meetings because we are following New York State guidelines set in place for gatherings, as well as trying to keep our membership safe and healthy. COVID-19 has brought us new ways of communicating with our managers and supervisors such as Zoom, and conference calls. This is not how we have communicated in the past and we urge you to keep in mind your Weingarten Rights. If at any moment you feel as though you are going to be disciplined or reprimanded, you still have the right to union representation, even if you are remote and the meeting is taking place via Zoom. It is important to know that we are all still members of IBEW 2199, and that our contract — and your union rights — still apply wherever you are.
